My Story

I’ve never shied away from chasing my dreams, but I’ve learned that success takes more than ambition. It takes hard work, a willingness to grow, and the right people beside you who support you, believe in you, and cheer you on even when you feel like giving up.

Nothing I’ve built would be possible without my parents’ sacrifices. I was only 3 when we left Vietnam. My parents were in their early 20s and had been living in constant fear, with war becoming the backdrop of their lives. They brought us to a refugee camp in the Philippines, and after a volcano erupted and devastated the area, we were able to seek refuge in Texas.

They didn’t speak a word of English but did what they could, working factory jobs, assembling microchips, and taking on side work. We lived in an apartment building full of people who had escaped similar situations. It was a tight-knit community that exposed me to many different cultures and showed me the power of connection.

By 17, I was working two jobs, managing teams, and paying my way through school. At 21, I opened my first business, a loan brokerage. Over the next 10 years, I built it into a successful company. I loved helping people, but I didn’t love the work itself. My real dreams were to open a salon and start a real estate business.

With encouragement from my now-husband Jimmy, I finally leaped. I enrolled in both cosmetology and real estate school at the same time. From early morning until evening, I was at cosmetology school putting in as many hours as they allowed, and at night, I took real estate classes. While I studied, Jimmy worked on closing down our business. We were fortunate to have a strong client base that didn’t want us to leave, but we knew it was all part of building something greater.

The day after graduating as valedictorian, we opened Hai Society Salon, which quickly became one of Frisco’s top-rated salons. To see my dream come to life so quickly was surreal, but I wasn’t done.

With my real estate license, I was ready to help people through the life-changing process of homeownership. But my first year didn’t go as planned. I didn’t get the mentorship or support I needed and started questioning if I even belonged in this industry. In every past role, I had found success quickly once I understood what was expected. But in real estate, without a clear roadmap, I struggled to get started.

One afternoon, sitting in the spa room of my salon, I opened my laptop and applied to a new brokerage that offered more training. I turned to one of my stylists and said, “Take a picture, this is the day my life changes.” And it did. With a clear roadmap, I was able to transform my business. Within nine months, I had 40 closings. A few months later, I launched my own team: Red Letter Realty Group.

Around that same time, our daughter Emilynne was born prematurely, with a heart condition that led to heart surgery at just a few months old. It was one of the hardest seasons of our lives, but she is a fighter. And today, at 5 years old, you’d never guess what she went through.

We came out of that experience more intentional with the legacy we want to create for our daughter. I want to show here that even when people tell you something is impossible, you are the only one who determines that. And through our businesses, we want to show her the power of acting with integrity, treating people well, and doing the right thing, always.

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have people in my life who believed in me. My parents gave up everything to give me a better future, and today they’ve built a thriving insurance business of their own. My husband has always supported my dreams and found his own passion within them. I’ve brought several dreams to life because of that support, and now I’m honored to help others do the same through homeownership. Every dream is possible, you just need the right direction and support!

When I launched my real estate business, I wanted it to mean something more than sales or numbers because behind every move is a major life shift. One night, while watching Aladdin with Emmy, the song A Whole New World came on. There’s a line: “Every moment red letter.” I turned to my husband and asked, “What does that actually mean?” He looked it up, and we learned that a red-letter day is a moment you never forget. That’s exactly what buying or selling a home is. It’s not just a transaction, it’s a turning point. That’s why I named my team Red Letter Realty Group: so, every client feels seen, supported, and fully prepared during one of the most meaningful chapters of their life.

What sets us apart is how we show up for our clients with heart. We guide, educate, advocate, and solve problems before they happen. We bring clarity to complex decisions and approach every step with care, strategy, and professionalism. With a background in lending, design, and business ownership, I offer a well-rounded perspective that helps protect my clients’ best interests from start to finish. We also started building spec homes, furthering our knowledge on home construction and what to look out for. Whether you’re buying, selling, or building, I’m here to help make your next move one you look back on with pride.

Let’s create your red-letter moment, together.

Sincerely,

Hai Hoang
